I don’t know where to begin when it comes to writing about the Corbetts. I feel like this is a love story that goes beyond two people and extends through an entire family. I’ve now had the honor of capturing two of the girls’ weddings and I can’t stop smiling when I think about those days. There is just something so special about them. It has always been a pleasure working with this family, especially communicating plans with their Mom, Beth. We both thrive on being type-A and having everything organized, so we couldn’t be more compatible! When her youngest daughter Emily got married, everything went off without a hitch (and I know that is because of Mom). Fast forward to 2020 and it’s Katie’s turn to tie the knot! Little did we know the challenges we’d be facing at the start of this decade. In addition to having to postpone the wedding due to a global pandemic, the Corbett’s had lost their sweet grandmother not long before. During a time where you can’t even hug someone, it was incredibly hard to see them go through this.
That is where love and family come in. With Beth’s determination, Katie’s positivity, and the support from her amazing fiancé, Thomas, they pulled off one heck of a wedding! After a couple of date changes and three venue moves, Katie and Thomas were married on July 10, 2020 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Charleston, South Carolina. They continued the celebration at The Cooper River Room in Mt. Pleasant overlooking the Ravenel Bridge. It was like the wedding was meant to be there the entire time. The day started with a downpour as everyone arrived to the church, but that didn’t matter. Everyone was there and Katie and Thomas were getting married. It was truly glorious. The sun came out in time for Katie to walk down the aisle and greet her teary-eyed groom. The emotions didn’t stop there. After two incredible speeches from Katie’s siblings, she surprised Thomas with a recorded speech from his brother who could not be with them. You can’t help but think about how wonderful these couples are simply by the actions of their loved ones. The amazing words from their siblings and the devotion from their mother. It’s a beautiful thing and I am so happy that Katie and Thomas found each other to share that kind of love with. Thank you again for letting Caroline and I capture your story. We are forever grateful!
Wishing Katie + Thomas all the happiness in the world!
Special thanks to all the wonderful vendors who helped create their perfect day!
